Featured on the popular shark tank and created by a college student, CordaRoy bean bags are not your ordinary chairs. They’re the ingenious combination of comfort and versatility, offering more than just a cozy spot to sit.

These bean bags can transform into full-size mattresses, making them a multifunctional addition to any space. While still young in the bean bag realm, they have managed to make a name for themselves. 

Unpacking Cordaroy’s Box And Setup

Setting up a bean bag like CordaRoys especially if it’s big can be hard and manually straining. At least those were the thoughts going through my mind when the box arrived. Much to my relief the process was easy and sympathetic to my muscles.

The box contained two pieces: the compact cover and sac of packaged foam. I took the foam out of the plastic and allowed it to expand before popping it into the chair cover.

The foam did take a bit of puffing but allowing it time also helped. The mattress shape of the bean bag also enabled it to expand on its own in a day or two. So far so good. 

One thing I would mention is the weight of the box. I noticed it had more weight compared to other bean bags, and a little digging revealed that it was because of the memory foam filling inside.

Source material and its properties are of utmost importance and the cordaroy’s bean bag delivers. These bean bags are all about that polyfoam filling. Why? Cause the material allows the bean bags to function like furniture shape-shifters.

Each one’s got a comfy mattress loaded up with 100% safe polyurethane foam, to lounge and snooze in. I liked that the foam is eco-friendly, uses no heavy material, and comes with clipped zippers to keep the foam in place.

Ease and Comfort

There are two aspects of comfort that I found interesting when initially examining the bean bag. 

1- It’s super easy to use, either as a bed or a chair. When I was done sitting for the day, I simply popped the spread out of its outer cover and fluffed it into a bed. It was comfortable as a bed and when it was time to pack up, all I did was fold it up and stuff it back into the cover. This two-in-one use is super functional and provides an ideal dimension to a bean bag.

2- As a five-foot woman who’s picky when it comes to bean bags, I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort it provided. There was enough space to move around and practically fold to your body.

However, I observed that the bean bag may not be spacious enough for people who are taller than 5’4 or 5’5. Fret not, if you are over this height, there are other big sizes available for you that you can pick for yourself.

Overall in mattress mode, we adored the luxuriously soft feel of the cover. It’s this velvety microfiber that is super appealing, doesn’t show handprints, and isn’t crazy fuzzy.

Machine Washable

It’s known that bean bags are super hard to wash and assemble. And, for someone like me who has kids, the fact that it’s machine washable is an absolute lifesaver. To test it, I simply took the cover and gave it a go in the machine. The results were as good as promised. I know I’ll be needing that feature sooner or later.

Maintenance

The overall visual appeal of the bean bag is amazing and I liked the way it felt next to my skin. The next thing on my mind was maintenance which is an important factor when judging a bean bag’s worth. I was pleased to see no signs of wearing or tearing with use even as kids jumped up and down all day long. 

The structural stability of the bean bag is impressive as it holds its shape well. Another shining advantage is the zipper which proved durable as we needed to continuously open and close the cover while transitioning it from a chair to bed and vice versa.

Yes, the removable cover can be washed in a machine. But remember, some fabrics can’t be machine-washed. Now you can’t clean the foam like the cover which can become a problem if it’s somehow spoiled with liquids. Otherwise all good. 

Warranty

Who doesn’t like a lifetime guarantee when buying a bean bag? It’s nice that Cordaroy’s bean bag offers it as it also depicts their faith in their product. If their product ever goes wrong because of how it’s made, they’ll fix it up or swap it out for as long as you’ve got it. And guess what? It’s right there on their logo.

Price

Sure, the CordaRoy chair isn’t exactly budget-friendly, but think about what you’re getting. It’s not just a bean bag; it’s a full-size mattress that can be turned into a bed. For me, the price is justifiable if you’re going to use it regularly.

It takes up space but also delivers a large area for relaxed activity and ease. In the end, you and your needs will have to see if its price is too much or worth your investment. 

Structural Issues

Now one aspect of the bean bag that falls short is its structural properties and support. Sometimes the lack of structure, made it difficult to enjoy the chair especially when I needed it to feel soft against my body. This particular issue can be attributed to the constant folding and unfolding of the Cordaroys bean bag foam.

It doesn’t allow the foam to naturally cater to your body like other traditional bean bags. So, if structure and support are your biggest requirements I suggest the Cordaroy bean bag may not be the choice for you.

So that was my sincere CordaRoy bean bag review covering all the aspects of it. This piece of furniture is a win-win in my opinion, especially with its two-in-one feature. Its comfort, usability, versatility, and material make up for some of its small shortcomings. And yes, I can confidently say that it is definitely better than an air mattress.

I now understand why the company became famous in such a short period of time as the product is truly impressive. Although it still needs improvement and the price is high, the bean bag leaves a good impression with every use.
